Avira Antivirus Professional has been awarded due to its excellent protection. It continuously scans the computer for malicious programs such as viruses, Trojans, backdoor programs, worms, malware etc. Furthermore it monitors every action executed by the user or the operating system and takes prompt action when a malicious program is detected.
Scans are flexible, allowing the user to completely scan all hard drives, or choose a customized a scan. It combines the antimalware with the antivirus giving a better protection. The heuristic scan can be turned on or off completely or partially, with three different intensity levels.
A quarantine spreadsheet layout displays all relevant information about the quarantined file, and gives a user options to re-scan, restore, delete, etc. The scheduler is fully customizable and definition files are available at Avira's web site.
The Complete Scan is not as slow as the freeware version, but it still pauses at midscan to let you know when it's found a threat.
Other differences to the freeware version are: bandwidth saving updates of program detection pattern database; automated updating and distribution via the Internet or network; network-wide administration by the Avira Security Management Center (SMC); and finally Integrated MailGuard email scanner (POP3 and SMTP) to examine incoming and outgoing emails. Includes the examination of email attachments. |
